STRENGTHENING CHILDREN'S RELIGIOUS CHARACTER THROUGH LEARNING TO READ AL-QUR'AN UMMI METHOD IN A PRIVATE HOME IN PROBOLINGGO CITY

Abstract
This study explores the enhancement of children's religious character using the Ummi Al-Qur'an reading method. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, data was gathered through interviews, observations, and document analysis involving children learning the Qur'an using the Ummi method in private homes. Information was also collected from parents, teachers, and relevant literature. The findings indicate that this approach positively impacts children's religious character in Probolinggo City. The Ummi method not only focuses on developing reading skills but also emphasizes a profound understanding and practical application of Islamic teachings. It effectively addresses common obstacles in Qur'an learning, such as difficulty in fluent recitation, insufficient comprehension of religious content, low motivation, and limited knowledge of religious aspects. This research contributes positively to the evolution of Qur'an learning methods, particularly those emphasizing the reinforcement of children's religious character within the family setting. The study aims to serve as a valuable reference for those interested in promoting children's religious development through Qur'an education in private homes.
